How Do I Apply?

In order to be considered for positions on campus, you will need to create a profile and apply to a position or pool with University Temporary Services.

  1. Go to http://jobs.ncsu.edu.
  2. Select Create Account.  If this is your first time applying with UTS you will create a username and password for future access.
  3. You can search for vacancies by selecting Search Jobs in the left hand corner of the page. UTS posts specific positions as well as temporary applicant pools for positions that we are continuously recruiting for. Under College/Division click department “480502 HR UTS Partnership” and then click Search. These positions are specific to UNC-Chapel Hill. If you are interested in positions at NC State as well, you will search 480501.
  4. Once you select a position that you are interested in applying to, you will then be asked to complete an application. Complete all details about your previous work history so we can evaluate your professional experience and skills.
  5. Review the job descriptions to learn about required skills, work days, and hours, and apply for the temporary positions for which you meet the minimum qualifications. You may be asked additional questions about your qualifications. Please answer these questions honestly.
  6. You will receive a confirmation number once you have successfully completed applying.
  7. Please be sure to log out each time you leave the site.

You may log back in at any time to check on the status of your application. You can also update and edit your application at any time. If you have any questions or need assistance please contact the UTS office at 919-515-0844 or temputsraleigh@ncsu.edu.

Background Checks

All new and some returning employees are subject to reference checks and a background check. Be sure to disclose any terminations or convictions in your past. This will not necessarily bar you from employment with UTS but not disclosing them can.

Permanent Positions

Working as a temporary employee on campus is a wonderful way to gain permanent employment. While neither NC State nor UNC-Chapel Hill have a formal temporary-to-permanent placement program, the experience you gain can help you to compete for positions. Once you secure a temporary assignment, make sure you update your resume and/or permanent application to reflect your new university work experience.
